Having graduated from Southampton University in 1995 and gained experience in general medicine as well as cardiology, I commenced the South Thames Cardiology training programme in 2000.
I was awarded an MD following a period of research at St Thomas’ hospital under the supervision of Professor Redwood. The focus of this assessment was coronary artery disease and micro vascular abnormalities in the context of angioplasty.
In addition, I was fortunate to be awarded an international Interventional Fellowship (Australia), allowing me to gain additional experience for a year before taking up a consultant post in Brighton in 2010.
Although my major interest is interventional cardiology, my clinical practice covers all aspects of general cardiology. My special interest is the diagnosis of chest pain and management of patients with established coronary disease as well as acute coronary syndromes.
I use a full range of non-invasive tests including ECG, ambulatory ECG monitoring, 24 hour blood pressure monitoring, treadmill tests and has access to echocardiography to facilitate diagnosis and management.
In addition, I perform coronary angiograms and coronary angioplasty for both stable angina and emergency procedures in acute coronary syndromes. I use physiological measurements and intravascular imaging to increase the diagnostic quality of angiograms and to guide treatment strategies.
