I am experienced, senior surgeon, having worked as an NHS Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Southend Hospital since 2012, and privately at the Spire Wellesley Hospital since 2020.

I have a wide scope of practice, in open and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. Within the NHS, I specialise in bowel cancer and advanced pelvic cancer surgery, chairing the Mid and South Essex Complex Pelvic cancer Multi-disciplinary team meeting.

As well as cancer surgery, I have an interest in the diagnosis of abdominal pain, gallbladder problems, hernias, constipation/diarrhoea and disorders of the anus/back passage. I also have an interest in the surgical excision of skin lesions and lumps such as lipomas, abscesses, sebaceous cysts and tags, as well as a variety of other less common abdominal problems.

I pride myself on my communication skills, concentrating on explaining things in a way that patients can easily understand.

Feedback from my patients at Spire Wellesley Hospital:

'The consultant gave a clear explanation. He listened to my concerns and put me at ease.'

'Mr Wright is caring, thorough and made me feel like I was his number one priority."
