Mr David Gatland
Consultant ENT surgeon
FRCS
Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I have been a consultant ENT surgeon for 27 years. I specialise in disorders of the nose and ear (rhinology and otology). I provided a sub-specialist service in advanced and complex rhinology and otology to Southend University Hospital until last year when I left full-time employment, but still work part time in the NHS in addition to my private practice.
I have for many years been on the faculty of the advanced rhinoplasty course in Dundee and also the sinus anatomy and surgery courses in Cambridge and Bristol which demonstrate my interest and expertise in rhinology.
I specialise in general and paediatric ENT surgery with a special interest in rhinology and otology.
Over the last 30 years I have performed thousands of rhinoplasty and sinus surgery cases and was instrumental in developing extended applications of endoscopic sinus and nasal surgery, including the surgery of the watery eye (lacrymal apparatus) and severe nosebleed. I currently carry out rhinoplasty/septorhinoplasty surgery for nasal deformity or functional nasal problems, but not purely cosmetic cases. I continue to provide a sub-specialist service in otology particularly middle ear and mastoid surgery, as well as the rhinology specified and paediatric cases; especially hearing, tonsil and adenoid problems.
I was the chair of the ENT department at Southend University Hospital until last year. I sit on the Medical Advisory Committee of the Spire Wellesley Hospital.
I am a clinical reviewer for the invited review mechanism of the RCSI and I am faculty on two national training courses in rhinology.
I welcome appropriate patients wishing to refer and pay for treatment themselves without the need for a GP letter of referral. Please call 01702 447 926 for more information.
