I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at St George's Hospital in October 1994. I worked closely with my colleague Mr Philip Mitchell, setting up the complex hip and knee replacement service. I was involved in Medical Management, in particular setting up the Major Trauma Centre at St George’s. I retired from my post in August 2016, to concentrate on my private practice.
I now specialise in primary hip and knee replacements and continue to see and treat patients who have problems after hip and knee replacement surgery, still working closely with Mr Mitchell on these cases. Although I no longer work directly in the NHS, I see NHS patients referred to St Anthony’s and I have Honorary Contracts at St George’s and the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (EOC) and I still operate on NHS patients on a regular basis at the EOC.
All hip and knee replacements carried out in England are recorded on the National Joint Registry and my results following primary hip and knee replacement are good, with a significantly lower revision rate than average across the country. My complication rate is low, with no infections or dislocations recorded over the last 12 months. I undertake over 100 primary hip replacements, over 50 primary knee replacements and over 50 revision operations every year, including my NHS and Private patients. My outcome data is good, with good patient satisfaction ratings and excellent feedback.

I have had a lifelong interest and involvement in sports - rugby in particular. In the past I was the team doctor at Richmond - a most enjoyable and rewarding experience. I ski as often as I can and try to go to the gym as much as time allows me to keep fit.
I enjoy travel and food, particularly in Spain. I spend quite a bit of my spare time cooking, which is generally very relaxing.
