On completion, he undertook his Clinical Surgery in General training in Essex before returning to the London Deanery Higher Surgical Training programme in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at The Royal London Hospital; St Bartholomew's Hospital; King's College and Guy's Hospitals. Following the award of Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons he was subsequently ranked 1st after national selection by the UK Joint Committee for Higher Surgical Training for Advanced Head & Neck Surgical Oncology Training which he successfully completed at Guy's Hospital, London, in conjunction with the award of Fellowship of The UK Higher Education Academy. When asked when and what to refer to a specialist Kavin believes "No problem is too big or too small to warrant a specialist referral from our GPs particularly as their decisions are based on a vast range of experience and more intimate knowledge of their patients. The range of referrals that I receive from wisdom teeth to facial aesthetic surgery and cancer resection followed by reconstruction only makes my job more interesting and rewarding on a daily basis.'
