I am a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at St. George’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London. My specialist interests include minimally invasive surgery and thymectomy for myasthenia gravis.
I specialise in surgery of the chest, including the bony chest wall, lungs, mediastinum and the covering of the heart (pericardium). About 85% of the surgery I perform is minimally invasive (keyhole). I specialise in both cancer surgery as well as surgery for benign disease such as infections and surgery for myasthenia gravis.
I have a wide range of experience in thoracic surgery having performed over 350 anatomical lung resections using both open and minimally invasive approaches. Furthermore I have developed a specialist practice in minimally invasive thymectomy surgery having performed over 50 thymectomies for thymomatous and non-thymomatous disease. I have performed over 100 minimally invasive lung wedge resections.
I am currently the clinic audit lead for thoracic surgery at St George's Hospital. I am also working, as the robotic lead, to develop the thoracic robotic program at St George's.
I teach on various courses including the Royal College of Surgeons in England CCRISP (Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient) and the Royal College of Surgeons in England Student Surgical Skills, Cardiac Advanced Life Support and Royal Society of Medicine Anatomy Course.
