I am an experienced Colorectal and General Surgeon based at a busy NHS Trust in South London. I specialise in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) procedures for both benign and malignant bowel diseases, including cancers of the colon and rectum, as well as diverticular disease and other non-cancerous colorectal conditions.
I graduated from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2008. Following completion of my foundation training, I entered the London Core Surgical Training Programme in 2010. I became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2013 and went on to join the highly regarded South West London Higher Surgical Training Programme in 2014. In 2020, I was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. Completing my training six months ahead of schedule, I was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at Croydon University Hospital in 2023, where I currently serve as chair of the Colorectal Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
I am an accredited endoscopist, fully certified by the Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG). I perform diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy, including endoscopic polyp removal. My clinical interests include the investigation and management of bowel-related symptoms such as diarrhoea, constipation, rectal bleeding, and abdominal bloating. I advocate a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, working closely with gastroenterologists and dietitians to provide comprehensive management plans.
In addition, I have particular expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of benign anorectal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, and anal skin tags.
Treatments offered: haemorrhoids, rubber Band Ligation, THD (transanal haemorrhoidal dearterialisation), traditional haemorrhoidectomy, anal fissures; Botox injection lateral internal sphincterotomy. Anal fistulas; lay-open procedure, seton insertion. Pilonidal sinus; excision and lay-open procedure, hernia surgery (open), inguinal and femoral hernia, epigastric hernia and umbilical hernia.
I am also an accredited Endometriosis Surgeon with the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE). As a core member of the Endometriosis MDT at Croydon University Hospital, I perform complex joint procedures in collaboration with my gynaecology and urology colleagues.
To date in both my NHS and private practice I have performed the following during my training and as a consultant over the last 11 years: colonoscopy - around 1,000 procedures, flexible sigmoidoscopy - around 400 procedures, major bowel resection (including cancer surgery) - around 150 procedures, haemorrhoid surgery (including haemorrhoid artery ligation and traditional haemorrhoidectomy) - around 200 procedures anal fistula surgery - around 80 procedures, pilonidal sinus surgery - around 50 procedures and inguinal (groin) hernia surgery - around 160 procedures.
I have a strong passion for medical education. I am the Lead Consultant for Medical and Physician Associate Students at Croydon University Hospital and serve as the Foundation Year 1 (FY1) Training Programme Director for the Trust. I am actively involved in mentoring and supervising junior doctors and surgical trainees.
