MBBS (Hons), MD, MRCOG
I have been a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital since March 2008. Since then I have expanded the provision of minimal access surgery and developed the early pregnancy unit, a service dealing with complications of early pregnancy.
In my current role, I cover all gynaecological conditions. My areas of special interest include keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery, fertility, reversal of sterilisation, complications of early pregnancy, menstrual disorders, endometriosis and the menopause.
I completed medical training in 1990 gaining honours and went on to do extensive post-graduate training in London, working at both Hammersmith and St Mary's Hospitals. During this time I developed expertise in infertility spending three years working in the Hammersmith In-vitro Fertilisation (IVF) Unit. I was awarded an MD degree from the University of London for research into Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Fertility in 2009.
A further two year surgical fellowship in minimal access (keyhole) surgery led to accreditation in this area by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. I am also accredited in ultrasound scanning in both gynaecology and early pregnancy and am able to offer this as part of the outpatient visit if required.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mrs Renee Behrens at Spire include:
Gynaecology
COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Southampton Hospital.
I am married with three children.
