My specialty is gastroenterology, covering both upper and lower parts of the gastrointestinal tract. The common symptoms I deal with include indigestion, iron deficiency anaemia, gallstone diagnosis, abdominal pain, diarrhoea/constipation, rectal bleeding, and jaundice. My expertise and training is in endoscopy including gastroscopy, capsule endoscopy, ERCP and colonoscopy and I am the lead consultant for endoscopy in Southampton.
I graduated in Manchester, moving down to London where I carried out most of my training but completing the final stages in Winchester and Southampton. I was appointed consultant gastroenterologist in Southampton in 1997. I consult both in the NHS and privately when a referral is made by a GP, a consultant colleague or insurance company.
