Spire Regency Hospital now offering BlephEx treatment for blepharitis

02 August 2014

We are now able to offer a new treatment for blepharitis, a common eyelid inflammation, at Spire Regency Hospital.

Blepharitis is a very common, chronic eyelid inflammation which can cause debilitating ocular discomfort. In the past, treatment was limited to lid hygiene with baby shampoo which barely controlled the situation.

Our understanding of the cause of blepharitis has improved recently, offering new therapeutic avenues. We are pleased to be able to offer the new BlephEx™ procedure at the Spire Regency Hospital.

The BlephEx™ procedure is a simple process, taking 10 minutes and can easily be performed in an outpatient environment. It involves an extremely thorough cleaning of the eyelids using microdermabrasion.

Most patients can expect significantly improved eye comfort. Combining this treatment with home care can, in mild to moderate cases, effect a near cure.
