Mr Kheir is a consultant Orthopaedic surgeon specialising in Foot and Ankle Surgery. After completing his Trauma and Orthopaedics training in Yorkshire. Mr Kheir has undertaken two highly specialised Foot and Ankle fellowships in Leeds and Wirral working with expert nationally recognised Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
During his training Mr Kheir successfully obtained a Master of Science degree in biomechanical Engineering MSc (Eng) in the University of Leeds for his laboratory research in the field of cartilage tissue engineering specifically on cartilage bone matrix decellularization. He also completed the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Tr&Orth) in 2013 and was admitted on to the GMC Specialist Register in 2016.
Aside from Foot and Ankle experience, Mr Kheir has a great experience in general trauma and lower limb arthroplasty surgery. Having done a hip fellowship for one year, he has the skills and experience in managing hip fractures, including total hip arthroplasty for suitable patients, as well as managing patients with lower limb periprosthetic fractures. Both groups of patients are growing in numbers in the last years.
Mr Kheir thoroughly enjoys teaching and most of all being part of a team working with specialist nurses, orthotists, podiatrists and physiotherapists to provide his patients with the best care. He tough on different courses , both to doctors and surgeons, as an ATLS instructor, on Foot and Ankle courses and the Leeds hip and knee arthroplasty course, as well as to allied healthcare professionals, including physiotherapist in hip arthroscopy course, and health Care Assistants and Staff nurses on Trauma orthopaedics training days.
Mr Kheir has a particular interest and passion for teaching, research and team working and continues to take part in teaching hospital with close affiliation to the University mentoring undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
Mr Kheir has an excellent academic experience in the organisation of a well-structured research project and thesis writing. He also presented his research in elite national and international conferences across Europe and the United States and has a good track record of publications in peer reviews journals.
