Movement Is Medicine: The Impact of Physical Activity on Young Minds

18 June 2026

Spire Leicester Hospital

An Online Evening with Dr Sanjiv Nichani OBE, our most sought‑after speaker in the Screendemic series

Worried about your child’s wellbeing in today’s fast‑paced, screen‑heavy world?

Join us for an inspiring and thought‑provoking session with Dr Sanjiv Nichani OBE, one of Leicester’s most respected Consultant Paediatricians, as he discusses his powerful new book, Movement Is Medicine: The Therapeutic Effect of Physical Activity on Mental Health Disorders in Children and Young People.

You may recognise Dr Nichani as the consultant behind our six highly popular "Screendemic" webinars, which explored the impact of obsessive screen use on the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. These sessions attracted exceptional engagement from parents, educators and healthcare professionals.

This new event builds on that important conversation by offering actionable, science‑backed solutions, showing how physical movement can restore balance, boost wellbeing and support healthier habits.

In Movement Is Medicine, Dr Nichani draws on neuroscience, clinical insight and decades of frontline paediatric experience to explain how physical activity strengthens the brain, boosts mood, supports focus and learning, and helps protect children from anxiety, depression, ADHD and the effects of excessive screen time.

Dr. Nichani OBE, a highly respected Consultant Paediatrician at Spire Leicester Hospital, will shine a spotlight on the serious health and well-being implications of screen overuse—particularly for younger generations who often spend countless hours on their devices.

This event will explore:

  • Why movement is essential for healthy emotional and cognitive development
  • How exercise functions as a natural antidepressant and attention regulator
  • Practical ways families can integrate more meaningful movement
  • Strategies to shift children from passive screen habits to active, joyful play
  • Real clinical insight from Dr Nichani’s 25+ years in paediatric medicine

The evening will include a Q&A opportunity, giving guests the chance to ask Dr Nichani their own questions about children’s wellbeing, screen habits and mental health.
