MBBS BSc (Hons), MRCS, FRCS (Tra)
I have been a Consultant Spinal Surgeon since January 2022, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of spinal conditions, from common degenerative disorders to complex spinal trauma, spinal tumours and emergency spinal surgery. I provide personalised, evidence-based care, ensuring that every treatment plan is tailored to each patient's individual needs, goals and lifestyle. My approach is centred on clear communication, shared decision-making and achieving the best possible outcomes through both surgical and non-surgical treatment where appropriate.
I specialise in the assessment of neck and back pain, and the assessment and management of sciatica, spinal stenosis, lumbar and cervical disc prolapse, degenerative spinal conditions, spinal trauma, spinal tumours and spinal infections. I have a particular interest in minimally invasive spinal surgery, motion-preserving techniques where appropriate, and complex spinal reconstruction.
I perform a wide range of spinal procedures including lumbar microdiscectomy, decompression surgery, cervical and lumbar spinal fusion, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), revision spinal surgery, vertebral fracture stabilisation and surgery for metastatic spinal disease. I also offer non-operative management where appropriate, including image-guided spinal injections and comprehensive multidisciplinary care.
I have extensive experience managing both elective and emergency spinal conditions within the NHS and private practice. My practice encompasses routine degenerative spinal disorders as well as highly complex spinal trauma, oncology and revision surgery. I regularly perform spinal surgery using modern evidence-based techniques and advanced spinal navigation technology where appropriate, with a strong focus on patient safety, rapid recovery and long-term outcomes.
Alongside my clinical practice, I hold several leadership roles within spinal surgery. I am the Audit Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics, overseeing clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest standards of patient care. I am passionate about education and mentorship, and developed IM SPINE, a national mentoring programme designed to support and inspire the next generation of spinal professionals. I also serve as the Spine Research lead and Representative, leading and supporting clinical research, developing collaborative projects and promoting evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes. These roles reflect my commitment to advancing spinal care through education, research, mentorship and continuous quality improvement.
