Dr Vikas Shah
BSc, MBBS, MRCP, FRCR
I am a Consultant Radiologist and provide a full range of bowel and pelvic floor imaging services. I am an expert in pelvic floor imaging and provide this service at an international level. Since commencing this post in Leicester, I have transformed the CT colon service, delivering a safer and more tolerable and patient friendly approach to bowel preparation. Using my training from London, I use novel MRI methods to assess the small bowel for signs of inflammation.
I specialise in bowel imaging and have expertise in the following areas: - CT colonography - MRI of the pelvic floor and defaecating proctography - Endoanal ultrasound - MRI and ultrasound of the small bowel - MRI and ultrasound of the liver - MRI and CT for colon and rectal cancer.
To date, I have reported over 1,000 CT colonogram studies, 1,000 proctograms and 1,000 small bowel MRI studies in my NHS and private practice.
Outside of my clinical practice, I am an educator. I have created and now successfully run several international courses, have authored a textbook on radiology, and am the leading UK radiologist utilising social media and online learning in radiology.

My wife and I moved to Leicester in 2011 and have since had our first baby. Being a new dad has been a challenging but hugely rewarding experience! I enjoy travelling, and most recently have been trying my hand at cooking, although I admit I do have quite a long way to go!
