I have been a consultant rheumatologist since 2009. My areas of expertise lie in early rheumatoid arthritis, lower back pain, sciatica, neck, shoulder, wrist pain, soft tissue rheumatology, ultrasound examination of joints, ultrasound guided joint injections, aspirations of joints and bursa, cyst, epidural injections, various joint injections, supra scapular nerve block injection, carpal tunnel injection, chronic widespread pain, gout and osteoporosis and fibromyalgia.

I run a tertiary specialist clinic for patients suffering from Ankylosing spondylitis and a combined rheumatology and eye service at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

I have more than 17 years of clinical experience in rheumatology. After qualifying in 1989, I underwent a structured postgraduate training in general medicine for three years. I later went on to train in rheumatology at Manchester, Wrightington, Northampton and Leicester. I also completed a part-time postgraduate MSc course in Clinical Rheumatology at the University of Manchester.

During my training I won a travelling fellowship from The British Society for Rheumatology and a travel bursary from the European Rheumatology Society EULAR.

I have developed a special interest in ultrasound in rheumatology and undergone training at the University of Ancona, Italy under Prof W Grssi.
