Mr Ramachandran Ravi
FRCS, FRCS (Uro), FEBU
I am a consultant urological surgeon at Spire Hartswood private hospital in Brentwood, Essex, offering private urology surgery in our clean and comfortable private hospital. Although I manage all general urology conditions, my special interests include benign prostatic disease, prostate cancer, rapid access referrals for haematuria and elevated PSA, and testicular conditions including cancers. I have extensive experience in laparoscopic and open radical surgery for urological cancers and specialises in bladder reconstruction following radical pelvic surgery.
I have performed over 425 radical operations for urological cancer over 7 years, including 100 radical cystoprostatectomies with ileal conduit/bladder reconstruction.
I joined Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2007. I obtained my primary medical qualifications and postgraduate qualification in urology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. I received further training in urology in London and was a senior registrar at St Bartholomew's, Royal London and Royal Marsden hospitals. Before coming to Essex, I was a consultant urological surgeon at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust in Kent, where I was lead clinician for urological cancers.
My approach to private practice echoes my NHS work ethic. I endeavour to provide up to date evidence-based treatments. I offer a very sympathetic and listening ear to all my patients and try to be available at all times for them. In recognition of excellent clinical services provided, I was awarded a Certificate of Merit as an NHS Champion in both 2003 and 2004. My patients had nominated him for this award which is administered by the King's Fund and the London Evening Standard.
