I am a London fellowship trained Consultant Neurosurgeon who specialises in complex spine and neurovascular surgery. Within the field of spinal surgery I treat patients with back pain, degenerative spine and disc disease, tumours, deformity, sciatica, neck and arm pain. I also have an interest in minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of the above disorders.

As a neurovascular surgeon I manage vascular disorders of the brain and spine including aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformations (AVM's), cavernomata and dural arteriovenous fistulas.

After completion of my basic surgical training in Scotland and becoming a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, I gained further experience in neurosurgery in Cambridge. Thereafter I completed an MD research degree in imaging of the brain and spine at University College London and the National Hospital, Queens Square in London, submitting my thesis with peer reviewed publications. I commenced my higher neurosurgery training on the prestigious South Thames rotation, which includes King's College Hospital and St George's Hospital, and achieved the award of Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in neurosurgery.

At St George's Hospital I undertook a combined neurosurgical and orthopaedic fellowship in spine surgery, acquiring skills and techniques from both disciplines. Thereafter I completed a Royal College of Surgeons accredited fellowship in neurovascular surgery at King's College Hospital.

I am now a substantive NHS Consultant Neurosurgeon in Queen's Hospital where I am one of only two neurovascular surgeons for the whole region and a key member of the Essex and East Anglian regional spine network.
