Professional profile

I am a senior consultant oncoplastic breast and general surgeon at Spire Hartswood private hospital in Brentwood, Essex. I offer private general and breast surgery in our clean and comfortable private hospital. I have over 20 years of extensive experience as a consultant. I am lead clinician and oncoplastic and breast surgeon at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital and joint breast reconstruction surgeon with Professor Ramakrishnan at Broomfield Hospital. My speciality oncoplastic and general surgery training has been undertaken at the London Teaching hospitals; Guy's and St Thomas', Chelsea Westminster, Hammersmith and Royal Marsden Hospital. I graduated as consultant oncoplastic breast and general surgeon in 2002. My masters degree of science in breast cancer genetics was achieved at Imperial College London.

My special interests are breast and general surgery. The one stop clinic at Spire Hartswood Hospital offers a full spectrum of management for women and men with simple and benign changes of the breast as well as those with breast cancer. I am experienced in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), laparoscopic hernia repair, laparoscopic appendicectomy, anal pathology and excision of body lumps and skin lesions.

I treat approximately 100 breast cancer patients per year. I perform approximately 80 mastectomy and lumpectomy of the breast; 50 sentinel node biopsies for breast cancer; 30 axillary clearance; 12 breast reconstruction jointly with plastic surgeon; 22 breast reduction. In general surgery I perform 40 keyhole removal of gallbladder; 40 keyhole or open hernia repair; 20 excision of haemorrhoids.

I have published several papers on breast cancer treatment and general surgery and also completed several pieces of research to improve the treatment of breast cancer, including sentinel node biopsy and breast cancer genetics.
