Professional profile

I am a consultant general and breast surgeon at Spire Hartswood private hospital in Brentwood, Essex, offering private general and breast surgery in our clean and comfortable private hospital. I trained at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, under the supervision of Professor Alan Marsh. I completed my higher surgical speciality training in the King’s College rotation, mainly at Guy’s Hospital, with breast disease training under the supervision of Professor Ian Fentiman. At Hammersmith Hospital, I completed a masters degree in breast cancer research under the supervision of Professor Williamson. In addition, I spent several years training in district hospitals in Kent, West Sussex and South East London, where I acquired skills in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.

I have been practising as consultant general surgeon with special interest in breast surgery, including breast cancer and breast reconstruction since 1998. In collaboration with plastic surgery colleagues, I provide advanced reconstruction for breast cancer patients. I have a special interest in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal), laparoscopic hernia repair and laparoscopic appendicectomy. I treat all sorts of hernias, both conventionally and laparoscopically, including hernia repair under local anaesthesia for elderly patients. I also perform bowel and anal surgery eg anal fissure, fistula and haemorrhoid procedures.

I have published several papers on breast cancer treatment and general surgery and also completed several pieces of research to improve the treatment of breast cancer, including sentinel node biopsy and breast cancer genetics. At present, I teach at University College London Medical School and am a regular examiner.
