I'm pleased to offer private neurology care at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood. I was appointed to the role of senior full time neurologist at Queen's Hospital, Romford, in 1998.

My training and experience up to that time had been in Scotland. Since my arrival in Essex, I have built up a busy clinical practice, and consider myself to be an experienced and approachable colleague. I am committed to the training of young neurologists and, in addition to my contributions in the UK, I host training at Queen's Hospital for neurologists from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka as part of the Royal College of Physicians International Medical Graduate scheme.

In the field of headache I am developing more 'interventional' approaches for treatment, including injection treatment for chronic migraine and greater occipital nerve (GON) blocks for migraine and other headaches.

My research interests in neurogenetics and neurodegeneration (my MD was on Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease with the National Surveillance Unit in Edinburgh), have led me into the field of ataxia, and I am involved in a number of projects to improve the care of patients with ataxia. I am the Medical Advisor for Ataxia (UK) and am on their Clinical Guidelines development group.
