I have been a Paediatric Consultant for over 11 years. During this time I have acquired an enriched depth of knowledge and experience in general paediatrics and neonates. I also have special interest and skills in paediatric cardiology, neurodisability and immunisation.
Â
I specialise in general paediatrics with special interest in paediatric cardiology, neurodisability and immunisation. I have taken advanced courses, training and further examinations in paediatric cardiology, especially focusing on conducting echocardiography (heart scan) for children and newborns. Additionally, I lead a multidisciplinary clinic for children with neurodisabilities, development delay and special educational needs.
So far, throughout my career of 32 years, I have performed over 1,000 echocardiography (heart scan) and over 500 cranial ultrasonography (head scan), in newborns, infants and children.
My medical training expands over many years and throughout several countries. I graduated in medicine in 1984 and practiced general medicine and paediatrics for 7 years in the Indian sub-continent and the Middle-East. Subsequently, I completed my general professional training in paediatrics in Ireland over five years. I moved to the UK in 1996 and underwent higher specialist training in neonates and paediatrics in London, Kent and Cambridge. In 2005 I succeeded to obtain my CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training), after which I acquired the position of Consultant Paediatrician at Southend University Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust.
Thus far, I have acquired extensive knowledge, skills and experience in child health and I continue to invest in my further professional development. I am up to date in Appraisal and Revalidation as Consultant Paediatrician in UK. I am an honorary consultant at two London hospitals, where I regularly update my knowledge and training in cardiology for children under renowned paediatric cardiologists in the country.
At Southend University Hospital, I am the Lead Consultant in three paediatric specialties, which include; paediatric cardiology, neurodisability and immunisation. Also, within the paediatric department at Southend University Hospital, I am an active member of the Clinical Governance Committee, Clinical Guideline Group and Child Protection Peer Review Group.
In addition to my clinical work, I am also proud to be an educational and clinical supervisor to junior doctors. I have delivered a number of lectures to GP groups at Spire Hospital, as well as at Southend University Hospital. Additionally, I have presented at regional paediatric conferences at home and aboard.
I am clinically attached in honorary position to paediatric cardiology department of Royal Brompton and St Thomas' and Guy's Hospitals, London. I do attend and manage outreach combined specialist cardiology clinics along with Visiting Paediatric Cardiologists.
In 2015 I was nominated as the team leader of Neptune Children Ward at Southend University Hospital, which was awarded the Hospital Heros Award, voted by over 10,000 members of the general public. Furthermore, Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust honoured me with a Clinical Excellence Award for delivering high quality of service to patients.
