Spire Harpenden support Cancer Research UK with clothes drive

17 September 2015

This week, the staff at Spire Harpenden have been clearing out their wardrobes and bringing unwanted items of clothing to support our local Cancer Research UK shop.

Caroline Jones, who lives locally to Spire Harpenden Hospital, came in at the beginning of the week to share her story.  She has been campaigning since January 1st for Cancer Research UK, every day wearing an outfit entirely made up of ‘pre-loved’ clothing from local Cancer Research UK charity shops.

The staff at Harpenden collected 24 large bags of clothes and shoes which were all donated to Cancer Research UK.  Hospital Director Julia Salmon was happy to donate some of her pre-loved clothes “I think Caroline’s campaign is fantastic and her outfits are incredible.  I’m delighted that we are able to support her and Cancer Research UK by collecting so many clothes this week.”

Caroline visited on Friday to see some of what was collected and was delighted with the progress.  “Thank you to all the staff at Spire Harpenden for organising a clothes donation week in aid of Cancer Research UK.  I cannot wait to find some hidden gems!”
