Ambrose Ward Restoration Programme is now complete

22 November 2022

Julia Salmon, Hospital Director alongside Sally Hull, Director of Clinical Services invited Alison Dickinson, Group Clinical Director to celebrate the re-opening of our long stay Ambrose Ward, enabling the reallocation of beds back to the main ward area.

Following a CQC review a number of years ago, there was an ‘expressed objective’ for the hospital to install clinical hand wash basins.

Every patient room now has a walk-in shower and clinical hand wash basin to complement the upgraded facilities in each room. All clinical support areas have been refurbished to meet CQC expectations. In addition, clinical wash basins have also been added to the Imaging Department.

During the 66-week project Ros Horslen, Administration and Projects Manager, and Iain Harpley, Estates and Engineering Manager, worked with contractors Quest on a rotational project plan which saw five rooms taken out of commission each time and prepped for renovation.

Julia commented: “After more than a year of negotiating bedroom space daily, managing noise and disturbance for our patients and staff, we celebrate an impressive and compliant area to further enhance the safety of our patients. The hospital team and my consultant colleagues are delighted to get back to normal and continue to support our patients through the ward and hospital experience.”
