I am a Consultant Orthopaedic, Foot and Ankle Surgeon at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital. I trained at Charing Cross Hospital, qualifying in 1982. My orthopaedic training was as a registrar on the Charing Cross Hospital training scheme before going on to St George’s Hospital as a Senior Registrar. I went to Baltimore USA as a Fellowship working at the University of Maryland and at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

On my return from the USA, I was appointed at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath in 1997 as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. My area of interest, apart from trauma, was foot and ankle surgery. Since my appointment as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, I have been involved in training and research.

I am an examiner at the FRCS(Orth) examination, where I chair the oral question standard setting group. I was chair to the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery Society (BOFAS) Education Committee. I am now president-elect of BOFAS. More recently I have teamed up with David Redfern and a French surgeon to develop minimally invasive (MIS) foot surgery. This is an exciting venture and I have been appointed as chair of the BOFAS MIS group to look into and develop this area within the UK.
