BBS, BSc(Hons), MRCP
I am a Consultant Cardiologist with more than 10 years' experience caring for patients with heart and circulatory conditions. My specialist interest is coronary artery disease and the treatment of narrowed or blocked arteries using angioplasty and coronary stenting. I also have a particular interest in preventative cardiology, helping patients understand and reduce their future cardiovascular risk.
My NHS practice is based at East Surrey Hospital, King's College Hospital and St George's Hospital, where I perform emergency procedures for patients experiencing heart attacks.
I completed my medical degree at Imperial College London and was awarded a First Class Honours degree in Cardiovascular Sciences from the National Heart and Lung Institute. I also undertook research at the Hatter Cardiovascular Institute at University College London, which helped shape my evidence-based approach to patient care. My cardiology training was completed at St George's Hospital and King's College Hospital.
To date, I have performed more than 1,500 angiogram and angioplasty procedures. I have experience treating complex coronary artery disease, including chronic total occlusions (long-standing fully blocked arteries), and use advanced techniques such as intracoronary imaging and rotablation where appropriate.
I see patients with a wide range of cardiovascular symptoms and conditions, including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, atrial fibrillation, dizziness, blackouts, fainting, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I also assess patients with heart failure, heart valve disease and heart muscle conditions.
In addition, I provide cardiovascular risk assessments for people with a family history of heart disease, concerns about their future heart health or those seeking a second opinion. I also assess patients before surgery to determine whether they are fit to proceed with treatment.
As part of my preventative cardiology practice, I evaluate cardiovascular risk factors and develop personalised treatment plans that may include lifestyle changes and medical therapies, including cholesterol-lowering injections where appropriate.
I believe in providing empathetic, patient-centred care and taking the time to understand each individual's concerns. My aim is to provide a clear diagnosis and treatment plan tailored to each patient's needs.
Where further assessment is required, I can arrange investigations including ECGs, blood pressure and heart rhythm monitoring, exercise ECG testing, echocardiography (heart ultrasound), CT scans and MRI scans. These help support an accurate diagnosis and evidence-based treatment plan, including angioplasty when needed.
