Professional profile

I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in cornea, refractive surgery at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology, Gartnavel General Hospital, for the Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Trust since 2005.

I provide tertiary corneal refractive surgery expertise for routine and complex corneal problems. I have performed over a 1,000 laser refractive procedures and over 10,000 lens procedures (cataract and RLE).

My Higher Specialist Training (HST) was in Birmingham. I have had the opportunity to do two renowned fellowships in anterior segment in Birmingham and Nottingham. During my training, I developed a special interest in lamellar keratoplasty and corneal refractive surgery.

I am one of the invited faculty for national and international conference for cornea, cataract and refractive surgery and a key opinion leader in my field.

I am an examiner for Fellowship exam for ophthalmologists (Glasgow) and have published over 20 peer reviewed articles. I am an honorary Lecturer for Glasgow Caledonian University.

I am involved with teaching optometrists and ophthalmologists in training and am a college tutor and educational supervisor. I am one of the appointed appraisers for Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Clinical Interests

Mr Mantry offers the following: Scotland's only hospital based service offering a full range of vision correction and cataract solutions. For cataract patients: Symfony lens,multifocal and trifocal lens surgery, toric implants, accommodative lenses and standard (NHS) lens surgery. For vision correction patients; symfony, multifocal, trifocal, toric, accommodative and standard lens exchange. Excimer Laser: LASIK, PRK LASEK and EpiLASEK laser eye surgery, Poor vision from corneal scarring; excimer laser corneal reshaping (photo therapeutic keratectomy). For previous NHS cataract patients who want better vision without glasses; Sulcoflex piggy back multifocals, top up laser eye surgery. Glaucoma patients: complete 'preventative care' Programme. Complete Corneal Solution: First in Scotland. Keratoconus patients: Complete set up for diagnosis; Collagen Crosslinking; Implantable contact lens including toric options; Corneal Transplants.
