Mr Raul Hernandez Girones
Physiotherapist based at both Spire Murrayfield and Spire Shawfair Park Hospitals
I qualified as a physiotherapist in Spain in 2009 and completed a masters in Healthcare Providers Management.
My first experience was in a specialised clinic providing care for patients with musculoskeletal and work related injuries. During that time, I helped patients with a wide range of pathologies and scenarios, such as tendinopathies, back pain, traffic accidents, pre and post-surgery rehabilitation and much more.
Since 2016, I have been working in private clinics in the UK offering high quality one to one physiotherapy.
In my current role as Team Lead Physio at Spire Edinburgh Hospitals, I am grateful for the access to the facilities and specialised equipment and the support of competent and experienced co-workers, which motivates me to keep growing as physiotherapist.
I am currently completing another Masters at Queen Margaret University on Advancing Physiotherapy Practice with specialty on MSK, and I am working on my dissertation at the moment.
From an early age, while at high school and before going to university, I started doing various massage courses as a hobby. This triggered my interest for MSK and has influenced the way I work which is why I consider ‘hands on’ a useful tool for treatment.
My motivation for studying physiotherapy was to understand how the body works. I take great pride and joy in sharing that knowledge with my patients. I believe in the importance of good health education, as making the patient understand their state helps to create habits to address the source of the issues – which will have a permanent impact on the patient’s health.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Raul Hernandez Girones at Spire include:
Outside work, I enjoy drawing, good food, hiking and an exciting Catalan tradition called human towers.
