I graduated from Edinburgh University Medical School in 1986. My pre-registration year was completed in General Surgery under the Queen's Surgeon in Edinburgh and in Respiratory Medicine. Thereafter I qualified in General Surgery before resuming my training in ENT Surgery at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in London.
I returned to Edinburgh to complete my training. As a Registrar I developed a service for the diagnosis and treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. I also trained in New York under Professor Blitzer to set up a national clinic in the treatment of head and neck movement disorders with botox, which was the first of its kind in Scotland and second in the UK.
I was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist in 2000 and practice in the Borders and Edinburgh.
I have provided an ENT private practice for adults and children at Spire Murrayfield Hospital since 2001.

I enjoy people. I enjoy meeting patients and providing them with the information that they need to allow them to make the right decisions about the most appropriate treatment for them. I have a wife and four young children, which occupy my free time and are a source of joy.Back to top
