I am a Consultant Neurologist working full-time in NHS Lothian. I studied Medicine at Edinburgh University. I completed the majority of my medical training in Edinburgh but I spent one year in Auckland New Zealand where I completed an epilepsy fellowship as part of my training.
I see patients with all Neurological conditions.
I subspecialise in the management of epilepsy and see people following a first seizure as well as people with complex epilepsy. I undertake investigations to establish if surgical management of epilepsy is possible in individuals who have drug refractory epilepsy. I see teenagers with epilepsy who are transitioning into adult services and also run a joint clinic for patients with epilepsy and learning disability.
I was one of the SIGN guideline panel members that wrote the guideline for the management of migraine. Prior to studying medicine, I worked as a Physiotherapist.
My private practice in Edinburgh is based at Spire Murrayfield Hospital where I consult on a Monday afternoon or evening.
