I have been working as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in Cwm Taf UHB since 2012, based in Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil. I cover a wide geographical area including the Merthyr and Cynon Valleys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Caerphilly County and South Powys with a busy elective and trauma practice.
I specialise in lower limb surgery, with a particular interest in hip and knee replacement surgery, both primary and revision. I also perform arthroscopic surgery of the knee including meniscal surgery. I have a full NHS trauma practice and am an instructor in Advanced Trauma and Life Support.
Having completed my basic and higher surgical training in Wales, I was awarded the prestigious Cavendish Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellowship in 2010 for one year based at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. It was during this time that I developed my interest in the management of the infected arthroplasty. I then returned to Wales for a further six months to complete my fellowship training as the Cardiff Hip Fellow, based in Llandough University Hospital.
I am very active in hospital life, and am currently chairman of the Cwm Taf UHB Local Negotiating Committee.
