Mr Alwyn Jones

I have been a Consultant Spinal Surgeon in Cardiff since 2004, where I treat all spinal conditions including adult deformity (scoliosis), neck and arm pain, back pain and sciatica. I have an interest in sporting spinal injuries and treat local and national players. My clinical interests include degenerative spines, lumbar spine disorders, medico-legal, osteoarthritis, pain management, and soft tissue injuries.

I perform several minimally invasive procedures including injections, as well as operations on the spine tailored to individual patients’ pathology, which include minimally invasive procedures. I am happy to accept second opinions, as well as perform complex scoliosis surgery when necessary. I still have an active role in clinical research and have presented at local and national meetings.

I am a Welsh speaker, graduating from Cardiff in 1993. I stayed in Wales to do my basic and orthopaedic training. I then spent a year in Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, where I completed a national recognised spinal fellowship treating both adult and paediatric spinal conditions. I continue to do this in my current employment.

I offer a tailored management plan for my patients with approximately 20 years of clinical experience in this speciality.
