I am a senior consultant in respiratory medicine with wide experience in the management of lung conditions. I am an expert in the treatment of airways disease (for example asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, chronic cough) and in interstitial lung disease including unexplained breathlessness.
I qualified from Edinburgh medical school in 1991 then completed my training in London spending three years in research at the Royal Brompton Hospital studying new asthma treatments. I became a consultant in respiratory medicine at Barts and the Royal London Hospitals moving to Wales in 2003 where I work in Aneurin Bevan Health Board.
I have recently stepped down after 10 years leading training and recruitment to respiratory medicine in the UK. I am a lecturer at Cardiff University medical school. I provide medical advice and support to the British Lung Foundation in Wales and to Respiratory Alliance Wales having previously served as chair for these organisations.
