Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Cambridge, specialising in knee and hip surgery. I am an Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge and offer private consultations and surgery at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital, providing expert care for patients from Cambridge and the wider East of England. My practice focuses on the treatment of sports injuries, knee pain, robotic-assisted surgery, arthritis and joint replacement surgery.
I have been a consultant since 2013 and undertook my medical training at UCL in London and my surgical training in Oxford. I have a strong research interest undertaking my thesis in early knee arthritis. My research interests now are focused on acute knee injuries, advanced imaging, treatments and best surgical outcomes.
I have a special interest and undertake many, partial unicompartmental knee replacements (sometimes called knee resurfacing) only replacing the damaged area of the knee, which have lower risks from surgery and can provide a superior functional outcome for patients.
My international training was with the MOG (Melbourne Orthopaedic Group) one of the largest specialist orthopaedic Groups in Australia. In 2018 I was awarded the British Association of Knee Surgeons Traveling Fellowship to New York and Boston to gain an international perspective.
My current practice is aimed at the management of sports injuries including ACL reconstructions and meniscal repair surgery, knee pain and arthritis with particular expertise in the management of early arthritis, knee replacement surgery specialising in both partial unicompartmental (knee resurfacing) and total knee replacements and the management of hip arthritis and hip replacements.
I believe that each patient should be prescribed a personalised package of care and treatment programme. I have a keen interest in sport and have been the match orthopaedic surgeon for first class rugby internationals, and have been a regular motor sport doctor at Silverstone for the Formula One British Grand Prix.
As an Associate Professor I am actively involved in research and education and lecture locally, nationally and internationally. I am a reviewer for the Bone and Joint Journal, The Knee and The British Journal of Sports and Exercise Medicine. I have developed the undergraduate orthopaedic curriculum, inspiring orthopaedic medical students to be orthopaedic surgeons of the future.
