MD, PhD, FEBU, FRCS(Urol), MBA, LM
I am a Consultant Urological and Robotic Surgeon with a specialist focus on robotic prostate cancer surgery. My main private practice interest at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital is robot-assisted radical prostatectomy for suitable patients with prostate cancer. I have over 20 years’ experience in urology and hold consultant posts at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I'm also a Visiting Professor at Anglia Ruskin University.
I have substantial current experience in robotic prostate surgery. I also have experience in robotic and minimally invasive kidney surgery, including nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy and pyeloplasty, in addition to laparoscopic and endoscopic urological procedures.
I treat a wide range of prostate and urological conditions, including prostate cancer, benign prostate enlargement (HoLEP, BipoLEP, TURP), urinary symptoms, kidney stones, bladder conditions and blood in the urine. My practice includes prostate biopsy, MRI–ultrasound fusion targeted prostate biopsy, transperineal prostate biopsy, cystoscopy, bladder tumour resection, ureteroscopy, stone treatment, robotic prostate surgery and robotic or minimally invasive kidney surgery.
I also have current NHS experience in minimally invasive prostate treatments for benign prostate enlargement, including EchoLaser and UroLIFT.
I am active in clinical leadership, research and education. I am Clinical Urology Lead at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn, Visiting Professor at Anglia Ruskin University and Editor in Chief of the Atena Journal of Urology. My research and innovation interests include prostate cancer pathways, bladder cancer care, radiation cystitis, transperineal prostate biopsy, digital health and patient safety.
I have a particular interest in continence recovery after robotic radical prostatectomy. My published quality improvement work includes a small case series using patient-reported outcome measures and digital follow-up to support monitoring of continence recovery after robotic prostate cancer surgery.
Outside medicine, I enjoy travelling and staying active through sport. I also have a strong interest in digital innovation and how technology can improve people’s lives and healthcare.
