I have been a consultant general surgeon for 11 years. I completed my higher surgical training in the North East of England where I developed an expertise in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. I specialise in the management of gallstones (gallbladder removal). I also have an expertise in groin and abdominal wall hernias (umbilical, epigastric and incisional hernias) for which I can offer both open and laparoscopic surgery. I am a JAG accredited upper gastrointestinal endoscopist. I routinely perform endoscopy to investigate dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing), acid reflux and upper abdominal pain.

I have performed over 1,200 laparoscopic procedures during my career. These include about 600 laparoscopic cholecystectomies and 400 laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. I have performed over 1,200 endoscopies.

Currently, I am the Director for the Division of Surgery at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust which include Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Peterborough City Hospital and Stamford Hospital). I held this position since 2017. I also was the Associate Medical Director of the Division of Surgery at Hinchingbrooke Healthcare NHS Trust from 2015 to 2017.

I am proactively involved and enjoy training the Specialty Trainees in General Surgery. I am an Educational supervisor.

With reference to research, I hold an MD (Doctor of Medicine) - Northern Oesophago-Gastric Unit - Newcastle University. I investigated the impact of perioperative immunonutrition on clinical outcomes of patients undergoing surgery for oesophago-gastric cancer.

I am the Associate Medical Director for the Division of Surgery at Hinchingbrooke Healthcare NHS Trust.

I have conducted research in the field of immunonutrition. I have also focussed my research on day case rates after laparoscopic cholecystectomy and laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair.
