I am a substantive NHS Consultant Dermatologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. My practice includes dermatology clinics for adults and children treating a wide range of skin conditions as well as carrying out surgery and remote dermatology assessments based on photographs (called teledermatology).
I focus on clinical excellence and patient safety in my practice, both in the NHS and privately. Before making any clinical decision, I involve patients by seeking their concerns and treatment preferences.
I am a member of the Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team and have subspecialty interests in dermatology for children and young people (paediatric dermatology) and teledermatology. I contribute to teaching and training registrars in the East of England region and have published more than 25 papers on skin disease in medical journals.
I treat a wide range of skin conditions in both children and adults affecting the skin, nails and hair. These include birthmarks, acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis/eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, hidradenitis suppurativa, vitiligo, alopecia, itch, skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses, warts and skin infections which can be fungal, viral or bacterial. I also treat vulval skin conditions, bullous pemphigoid and other blistering conditions and can offer patch testing for contact allergens.
I provide mole checks and full skin examinations with the use of dermoscopy, a magnifying tool to examine skin lesions in greater detail. I treat benign lesions, sun damaged lesions like actinic keratoses and Bowen's disease as well as skin cancers including basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas and melanomas.
Alongside my medical practice, I can also provide topical cosmetic skin care regimes to help rejuvenate your skin.
I carry out skin checks with a dermatoscope to check moles, skin lesions and skin cancers. I use cryotherapy (freezing with liquid nitrogen) for warts and for pre-cancerous skin lesions.
At a subsequent appointment to your first consultation, I can carry out dermatological surgery including punch, incisional and shave biopsy samples and removal of moles, cysts, warts, skin tags, other skin lesions and malignant skin cancers (called excision).
