I am qualified in medicine from St Bartholomew's and The Royal London School of Medicine. During my undergraduate studies I have spent a year completing laboratory-based research in pancreatic cancer. I carried out my postgraduate surgical training in the West Midlands, including time spent working in liver transplantation, organ retrieval, hepatobiliary surgery and oesophago-gastric cancer surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
I was awarded a Master of Surgery with distinction by the University of Edinburgh for my postgraduate research and spent two years as a Senior Clinical Fellow in oesophago-gastric surgery at Oxford University Hospitals before being appointed as a Consultant.
I have founded the Warwickshire Surgical Research Group, published several book chapters and have multiple peer-reviewed publications. I have a passion for research and medical education and have taught and examined medical students at the Universities of Brighton, Warwick, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol and Oxford. I was twice nominated for ‘surgical tutor of the year’ at Oxford University Medical School.
