Spire Wellesley Hospital rated ‘Good’ across all areas in CQC assessment

16 October 2026

Spire Wellesley Hospital has been rated ‘Good’ overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following a comprehensive assessment carried out in July and August 2026.

The hospital received ‘Good’ ratings across all five key areas assessed by the CQC: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. The assessment covered surgery and medical care, with both services rated ‘Good’.

Inspectors reported patients were treated with kindness and compassion and their preferences were supported as individuals.

Patients, and or their families and carers, were involved in decisions about their care and treatment, which was carried out based on the latest evidence and good practice guidance.

The assessment said leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. They had oversight of the quality of services being delivered through effective governance and risk management systems.

The CQC reported a culture of continuous improvement with staff able to contribute ideas through a quality improvement programme.

Richard Fry, Hospital Director, Spire Wellesley, said:

“We’re proud to be rated ‘Good’ by the CQC, recognising the hard work and dedication of the whole hospital team in providing high-quality care to people in our local communities.”
