Specialises in

I am a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns, Chelmsford, UK. Qualifying in medicine in 1983, I undertook comprehensive training in plastic surgery in Australia and have been practicing reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery since 1987. I am, among others, a member of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

I have an international reputation for my work in microsurgical breast reconstruction and this forms my main commitment in the NHS. This is my area of expertise and I have made many presentations on the subject at both national and international level. I also have a special interest in cosmetic surgery, performing reconstructive breast surgery, cosmetic breast surgery, cosmetic facial surgery, liposculpting and bodylifts.

As of January 2016 I have performed over 1,000 operations on the NHS last year. The majority of these were major breast reconstruction procedures. In the last three years I have performed 130 abdominoplasties, 180 breast augmentations, 165 breast reductions and mastopexies, 107 removal and replacement of implants, 81 blepharoplasties and 107 breast reconstruction operations using DIEP & TUG flaps.

I am the head of the Breast Reconstruction Service at Mid Essex Trust Hospital. I am also Chair of the BSRM Microsurgical committee. I am also a member of the Project Board of the National Mastectomy & Reconstruction Audit for the Health Care Commission.

I was appointed in 2002 at the St Andrews Centre for Plastic surgery and have been involved in teaching and training registrars. I run a microsurgical fellowship for trainees, which has attracted local trainees and international fellows from Europe, Australia, New Zealand and India. I have organised the 9th International perforator course in 2004 and the 12th one in India in 2008. More recently I helped to organise the WRSM in Mumbai India in 2015.

I am Professor of Plastic Surgery at Anglia Ruskin University.

I welcome appropriate patients wishing to refer and pay for treatment themselves without the need for a GP letter of referral.
