MBBS, MS, MD, FRCSED, FRCS (Gen)
I am a Consultant General and Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgeon, with experience across a wide range of conditions affecting the digestive system. My clinical practice covers all aspects of general and upper GI surgery, including both keyhole (laparoscopic) and open procedures.
I regularly treat conditions such as hernias, offering both routine and complex repair surgery, as well as gallbladder problems requiring removal. I also carry out anti-reflux surgery to help patients with severe acid reflux, benign gastric (stomach) surgery, and upper GI endoscopy, which is a procedure used to examine the upper part of the digestive system. I have extensive experience in laparoscopic upper GI surgery, which can often support faster recovery and reduced discomfort after treatment.
I graduated from Grant Medical College and JJ Hospital in Mumbai in 1989. I went on to complete my postgraduate surgical training, achieving a Master of Surgery from the University of Mumbai in 1992.
Following this, I completed higher surgical training in North East London and was awarded the FRCS (Gen) in 2008. I also undertook a period of research at the Royal Free Hospital in London, a centre recognised for its work in nanotechnology, before being awarded an MD by University College London in 2013.
Alongside my clinical work, I am a keen educator and play an active role in supporting the development of future doctors. I work as both a clinical and educational supervisor for foundation trainees at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead, helping to guide and mentor junior colleagues in their early medical careers.
