I have been practising as a Foot and Ankle Consultant Surgeon at the Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust since February 2014. As I progressed through my Higher Surgical Training in trauma and orthopaedics I have realised my interest of specialising in foot and ankle surgery. The foot and ankle are responsible for transmission of almost three times the body weight and need an intricate co-ordination of more than 26 articulations. It makes the speciality very challenging, exciting and inspiring for me. It is an ever evolving specialty, with great clinical and research potential opportunities.

I have completed two well respected foot and ankle fellowships under Mr Ian Winson, Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Bristol, United Kingdom, and under Mr Chris Blundell, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.

I have been practicing as a Foot and Ankle Consultant Surgeon at the Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust since February 2014. The fellowships have empowered me to attain excellence in foot and ankle surgery including ankle arthroplasty, foot and ankle arthroscopy, minimally invasive foot and ankle trauma and elective surgery, in addition to the basic operations such as hallux valgus (bunion) surgery, flatfoot and cavus foot correction.

I was awarded the BOFAS (British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society) Travelling fellowship to the Sigvard Hansen Foot and Ankle Unit in Seattle, USA – May 2014.

I have performed over 50 ankle replacements and similar numbers of arthroscopic ankle fusions. I specialise in minimally invasive foot surgery and sports injuries of the foot and ankle.

Foot and Ankle Lead Surgeon at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust since 2016.
