Professional profile

I am a consultant general surgeon with an interest in laparoscopic surgery and vascular surgery. I qualified as a medical doctor from Trinity College Dublin in June 1979. I was awarded my surgical fellowship by The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 1984 and my doctorate in Medicine by Trinity College Dublin in 1994. My surgical training was carried out in Dublin, Durham, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Carlisle and Melbourne, Australia.

In my general surgery practise, laparoscopic procedures predominate including laparoscopic cholecystectomy and bile duct exploration, laparoscopic groin hernia repair including inguinal, femoral and obturator hernia repair and also laparoscopic repair of Gilmore's chronic groin strain. I also carry out Thorascopic Sympathectomy for excessive sweating of the hand and armpit and for phobic facial blushing.
