As a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at Spire Washington Hospital, I specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions for patients across the North East, performing a wide range of spinal procedures, from minimally invasive techniques to complex reconstructive surgery for degenerative spinal conditions.
I graduated from St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School in 1993 and hold both a BSc and a PhD in Neurosciences from the University of London. I completed my neurosurgical training in the West Midlands, followed by an advanced spinal fellowship at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, developing expertise across both neurosurgical and orthopaedic spinal techniques. I was appointed as a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon in Newcastle in 2008.
My practice includes the management of back and neck pain affecting the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. I specialise in procedures such as microdiscectomy for slipped discs, spinal fusion, kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty for osteoporotic fractures, as well as treating spinal infection and degenerative disease. I also provide pain management treatments including facet joint and targeted spinal injections.
I aim to provide clear, supportive guidance and access to modern spinal treatments, helping you make informed decisions about your care every step of the way.
