MChem (Hons) MBChB MRCP FRCR
I am a Consultant in Clinical Oncology at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care, where I have been working for the past five years. I specialise in the management of prostate, kidney and bladder cancers, supporting patients through diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care with a personalised and thoughtful approach.
I completed my specialist training in North London, where I gained valuable experience in treating complex cancers. During this time, I was involved in running clinical trials in advanced prostate cancer with the team at the Royal Marsden Hospital. I was appointed as a Consultant in Clinical Oncology at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care in 2018.
Alongside my clinical work, I remain actively involved in research and have served as a principal investigator on a number of national and international clinical trials.
My practice focuses on the treatment of urological cancers, including prostate, kidney and bladder cancers. I use a range of treatment approaches tailored to each patient’s needs, including systemic therapies such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted anti-cancer treatments. These treatments work in different ways, from directly attacking cancer cells to helping the body’s immune system recognise and fight cancer.
I also specialise in advanced radiotherapy techniques, including intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR). These are precise forms of radiotherapy designed to target cancer cells while reducing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.
I have a particular interest in cancer genomics, which looks at how genetic information can guide and personalise cancer treatment. This is an evolving area of oncology that is helping to shape more targeted and effective care.
I have a busy NHS practice, with weekly clinics at both the Freeman Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital. I am committed to delivering patient-focused care, ensuring that each person I see feels informed, supported and confident in their treatment plan.
