Specialises in
I am a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. I am one of a handful of surgeons at Moorfields who is triple specialised in Cataract Surgery, Retinal Diseases and Emergency Ophthalmology. This allows me to help hundreds of patients every year even when there are multiple issues troubling them. I joined Moorfields in 2013 and became the youngest consultant at Moorfields since Sir Harold Ridley in 1938 (the inventor of the intraocular lens, which is now used in all cataract surgeries). This reputation has meant I regularly receive patients from around the country and abroad who travel to see me for expert care.
Cataract Care: I am head of High Efficiency Cataract Surgery at Moorfields. I received a Clinical Excellence award for this work and nominated for a prestigious Patient Care award. I sit on the Moorfields Faculty of Cataract Surgery Simulation training. I am a senior surgical tutor for the world renowned Cataract Fellowship at Moorfields. I also regularly receive other international surgeons to observe my surgery and techniques. This means that I am able to offer my patients expert care in managing cataracts.
Retina Care: As a specialist Retina Consultant, I developed the first Virtual Macular Clinic in London. This has prevented hundreds of patients from losing their sight from macular degeneration. My particular retina expertise is in macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal vein occlusions and central serous retinopathy (CSR).
Emergency Eye Care: As a Consultant in one of the busiest Eye Emergency Departments in the world (Moorfields Central London A&E), I regularly treat patients with a variety of eye problems from blepharitis and dry eyes to chemical burns and trauma, this means that I am experienced in treating almost all eye problems of any severity.
Eye symptoms treated include: blurred vision, distorted vision, painful eyes, dry eyes, itchy eyes, red eyes, flashing lights, floaters, eyelid lumps and screening for eye problems.
I am involved in multiple projects. I am currently developing a novel surgical device with Polymer Scientists at Imperial College London. I am also a lecturer on the MSc programme in Ophthalmology at UCL. I have previously worked with NHS Innovations in developing a new device for eye pain.
I have published in peer reviewed journals, written a book for medical students and authored book chapters in Ophthalmology.
