Dr Chris Harland
MA MB FRCP
I am an experienced General Dermatologist, having first entered the specialty in 1987. Since then I have accrued 30 years of experience at leading NHS Trusts, whilst developing interests in skin cancer and laser therapy.
I am an expert in the use of dermoscopy for subsurface visualisation of suspicious lesions, and I offer surgical removal of moles and skin cancers. My areas of interest include General adult and paediatric dermatology; mole checks and dermoscopy; mole excision and skin cancer surgery; laser treatment of various skin conditions including birthmarks, red faces and thread veins, lentigos/liver spots, acne scars, warts and verrucas etc.
I am the past-president (2016-17) of the prestigious St John's Dermatology Society, and am Lead Clinician in dermatology and skin cancer at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. My other NHS post is at The Royal Marsden Hospital, Sutton, where I face challenging cases of cancer-related skin problems as well as skin cancers. A proportion of my referrals relate to skin cancers and moles.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Chris Harland at Spire include:
Spire St Anthony's Hospital is only able to provide Covid-19 tests to patients undergoing surgery at our hospital. Covid-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service.
Interests include skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, mole scanning (digital dermoscopy and SIAscopy) and non-invasive imaging (research); cutaneous laser therapy (Skin Sutton Hospital, but patients can be referred to St Anthony's for assessment), with special interest in vascular lesions (including port wine stains in children and adults, and other birthmarks such as epidermal naevi; lymphangiomata-largest series of carbon dioxide laser cases in UK).
