Specialises in
I specialise in acute and chronic conditions of the foot and ankle. I aim to deliver reliable, evidence based procedures to appropriately selected patients in order to give them the best care and experience that I can. I am committed to informing patients about their condition in order to empower them and help them take control of their own health.
I specialise in foot and ankle surgery including all forefoot, midfoot and hindfoot conditions both acute and chronic, traumatic, and degenerative. I particularly enjoy managing conditions around the ankle and hindfoot (from sports injuries to degenerative conditions) as well as arch and heel pain.
After spending my earlier life in Turkey, Belgium and the United States of America, I came to the UK for medical training at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Schools of Medicine which I completed with Distinction. My Surgical training took place across London, South East Thames and the Wessex Deanery. I undertook fellowships at University Hospital Southampton, the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, Royal Surrey County Hospital and Frimley Park Hospital.
Awards from the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society facilitated a visiting fellowship to the Harborview Medical Centre in Seattle USA. I was a Locum Consultant at University Hospital Southampton and now occupy a substantive Consultant post at The Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.
In addition to my clinical work, I am the Audit Lead for the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital. I have roles as Priniciple Investigator in hospitals involved in Multicentre Randomised Controlled Trials (eg Ankle Injury Rehabilitation Trial, Weightbearing in Ankle Fractures Trial).
I have been nominated and/or won awards for teaching, presentation and research excellence. I have over a dozen publications and over 30, predominantly international, presentations. I have been involved with Orthopaedic Specialty training at a national level.
