MB ChB, MD, FRCS Ed, FRCOG
Having graduated from Leeds University I undertook postgraduate training in general surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology. I completed a research fellowship at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund before undertaking subspecialty clinical training fellowships in gynaecological oncology in both UK (Leeds) and Australia (Brisbane).
I am currently consultant in gynaecology and gynaecological oncology in the Southampton cancer centre and Director of the gynaecological oncology service. I also have clinical sessions at both Winchester and Salisbury hospitals. I have a wide experience in general gynaecology and continue to enjoy this practice. I have special interests in all aspects of premalignancy including early diagnosis and screening. I am the Lead Clinician for colposcopy services in Southampton and also direct the rapid access post menopausal bleeding service.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Ken Metcalf at Spire include:
Gynaecological cancer surgery.
Screening for gynaecological cancers.
Laparoscopic surgery, including laparoscopic hysterectomy.
COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Southampton Hospital.
I am married to a local GP. We live in the Test Valley and have two young children. We enjoy our garden, fine dining and wines. Running and orienteering events are my more active pursuits.
