I am an experienced Ophthalmologist (eye specialist) with expertise in eyelid conditions. I am well known for my approachable manner and I am recognised as a respected expert with a holistic approach to patient care. My patients value my clear consultations, professionalism and caring demeanour and I have excellent patient reviews as well as audited clinical outcomes.
As an advanced injectable therapy practitioner, I treat both cosmetic and non cosmetic indications. My facial spasm treatment clinic is recognised nationally and I am a founding member of the Wessex Facial Nerve Centre , renowned for the treatment of facial palsy. I am a member of the local skin cancer clinical experts team and work together with dermatologists and facial surgeons to treat skin cancer around the eyes.
I graduated from Imperial College London and completed higher surgical training in Wessex based at the University Hospital Southampton. I subsequently undertook the prestigious Oculoplastic Fellowship at the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. I was appointed to a consultant post at the Southampton Eye Unit in 2009 and have received multiple Clinical Excellence Awards in recognition of my outstanding clinical care and dedicated leadership.
I have an international reputation for education and training and hold a national leadership role as Regional Educational Lead. I lead surgical training at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and have led Undergraduate Education for the University of Southampton. I have carried out dedicated and prizewinning research to improve the understanding and treatment of Dry Eye conditions and was awarded a PhD by the University of Bristol for this novel work. This background as a clinician scientist has established me as a regional expert in blepharitis, dry and watery eye conditions.

I have been awarded a PhD for research into the molecular biology of dry eye conditions to help improve patient treatments. This work received a prestigious American Academy of Ophthalmology prize and competitive grants from the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and National Eye Research Centre.
I have held the post of subspecialty Section Editor for Eye Journal for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for nearly a decade.
