BSc, MRCP, MD(Res)
I am a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and my specialism is in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). I have a specialist interest in complex coronary and trans catheter valve intervention.
I qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2003, having completed a BSc in Physiology at University College London in 2001. The majority of my medical training has been undertaken in hospitals across London, and I was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Medicine (MRCP) in 2017.
I currently lead the TAVI team at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) NHS Trust, having been appointed in 2016. I am currently the joint clinical lead for cardiomyopathy.
In 2012, I was awarded my research doctorate (MD(Res)) from King's College London, working with Prof S Sharma, describing the cardiac response to exercise in Afro-Caribbean athletes. During this time, I developed my interest in cardiomyopathy, in particular relating to the identification of potential pathology in athletes.
I completed my interventional training at UHS and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, and have published numerous articles on both cardiac adaptation to exercise and complex coronary Intervention. I have been on the faculty for a number of prestigious national and international meetings. For two years, I served as regional lead for heart valve disease on the South East regional network board, and continue to serve as a Valve for Life core committee member.
