MD, PhD, PG Cert Clin Ed
My clinical practice primarily focuses on structural heart Valve interventions, a highly specialised area of cardiology that involves minimally invasive procedures to address various heart valve diseases, offering state-of-the-art care to patients with complex heart conditions. A cornerstone of my training was the prestigious British Cardiac Intervention Society (BCIS) international fellowship at Bern University Hospital in Switzerland – one of the world's foremost centers for structural heart interventions.
I developed advanced experience in transcatheter aortic valve intervention (TAVI), transcatheter mitral valve repair and transcatheter tricuspid valve repair. After the completion of this fellowship, I returned to the UK to establish and lead the Structural Heart Valve Intervention service at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, extending advanced heart valve intervention service to the patients in mid and north Hampshire.
Beyond my clinical duties, I am a prolific academic and researcher. I completed a prestigious British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Training Fellowship at King's College London. My doctoral research, leading to a PhD, focused on the biological variation and fragmentation of Cardiac Myosin-Binding Protein C for the diagnosis of acute and chronic myocardial injury, offering new insights into improving diagnostic accuracy and patient management in cardiology, by helping clinicians make more informed and timely decisions in acute and chronic cardiac conditions, leading to better patient outcomes.
My clinical research extends to various other critical areas, particularly focusing on the long-term outcomes of TAVI, contributing to evidence-based treatment and management of heart valve disease. My extensive publications on these topics are widely recognised in peer-reviewed journals. My active engagement in clinical research ensures that the latest advancements are integrated into my practice, benefiting my patients.
